7digital Grabs DRM-Free Pink Floyd Catalog

London-based 7digital is now offering the entire Pink Floyd catalog DRM-free, another score for the company. 7digital is the first in Britain to offer the protection-free catalog, according to information released Monday.

The move coincides with the 40th anniversary of the release of the Pink Floyd debut, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. All albums are being offered as higher-quality, 320kbps MP3s, and fans can purchase either complete albums or a-la-carte downloads. The company is spinning promotional price points of £5.49 ($11.14) and £6.99 ($14.19), depending on the album. "We are so pleased to be able to offer Pink Floyd fans the entire album catalog, not only DRM-free but in high quality MP3 format and at great prices," said 7digital MD Ben Drury.

For 7digital, the Pink Floyd coup follows a high-profile score involving the Rolling Stones. Late last month, the company began offering a significant portion of the Stones catalog as MP3s, a move that trumped other digital music stores.
